In 2006 Kaat Hellings recorded her first solo album ‘Wide and Low and Swallow’ on the warrelwind label. On this album she plays in trio with jazz musicians Joachim Badenhorst and Yves Peeters. Also that year, Kaat composed for the Veenfabriek in leiden (NL) and put music to James Joyce’ poem cycle ‘Chamber music’. Together with Ton van der Meer and Joachim Badenhorst she made a performance with this material and went on tour in the Netherlands.
Kaat was invited by Oscar Smit to record her version of the christmas song ‘petit papa noël’ for the compilation ‘christmas cover up’ (2011).
As an actress, she played in theatre performances ‘Oorlog’ from the swedish writer Lars Norén for Theater Zuidpool in Antwerp (B), in ‘KOP’ for Walpurgis, Antwerp (B) and in ‘Strandwandeling’ by Jorgen Cassier for ToNAc, Antwerp (B).
In 2010 she made her second studio album ‘Hit of the century’ which is produced by Eric Thielemans, who also plays on the record together with Jozef Dumoulin (B), Alexander Berne (USA), Nico Roig (ESP), Nicolas Thys (B), Mauro Pawlowski (B), Jorgen Cassier (B) and Michel Massot (B).
